Westerville South High School - Phase 1
additions and renovations
Imagine taking on a whole scale, multiphase, multiyear renovation, and addition to the largest and oldest high school in your district…
Client Vision
The goal of the project was to provide 21st-century learning areas throughout the school with a design to inspire the students, staff, and community.
Challenges that were Overcome
The project was bid in April of 2019, which was an unprecedented time for construction activity in Central Ohio. All trades were extremely busy, and most could not take on a project of this magnitude. The project was bid just under our estimate. Separate utility providers, such as AT&T and Columbia Gas, were extremely busy and had the potential to delay the start of the construction project.
The existing building was originally built in 1959 with various additions and renovations that limited drawings. We worked with the Building Department to get a commitment for the phased construction which required numerous meetings. In the middle of construction, the COVID-19 pandemic hit with the potential for shutdowns and material procurement issues. Even with the unforeseen challenges, the project finished on time and on budget.
