Ohio History Connection

Imagine a facility that is sensitive to its unique ecosystem and helps educate visitors on how to protect that ecosystem…

CLIENT VISION

The client desired to create a building that had a minimal impact on the very unique, very special fen ecosystem located at Cedar Bog.  They also had a desire to incorporate sustainable systems into the project.

CHALLENGES THAT WERE OVERCOME

We developed a unique, open-loop geothermal system combined with an onsite wastewater system to accomplish this vision. Water is pumped from the site and split into a geothermal heat sink and a potable system. Solids are separated in a septic tank and the wastewater is pumped to an onsite wastewater area where it is treated through the use of plants. The geothermal discharge is pumped into the wastewater area to provide the required water to facilitate plant growth. Water is pumped from the site, used in the building, and returned to the site cleaner than when it was harvested.

CLIENT/PARTNER SINCE 2006

The biggest selling point to me is that everything you design is unique. It doesn’t scream ‘TRIAD designed me!’ The other firms have that ‘look.’ You separate yourselves from that. Cedar Bog needed a design that screamed ‘Cedar Bog!’ and you recognized that. Thank you!
