Imagine adapting a long-abandoned building at the center of a building’s core…
Client Vision
The client desired to adapt this historic building in the heart of downtown Columbus to be a mixed-use building with commercial tenants on the ground floor and residential tenants on the upper floors.
Challenges that were Overcome
The age of the facility and the way it was tied into the adjacent building presented a series of life safety and code challenges that required unique solutions. The challenge was also exacerbated by the fact that the plans examiner retired between our initial submission and a revised design. We worked diligently, and collaboratively, with the client and the city to develop cost-effective and technically proficient solutions to a multitude of code challenges to help make the project come to life.
